My name is Emily Deguzis and I am a Suzuki and traditional violin and viola instructor, freelancer, and frequent performer in the Greater Hartford area. Teaching is my passion and I cannot imagine myself doing anything else! My students have been accepted in the CMEA’s Northern Regional Middle School and High School Orchestra Festivals, New England Music Festival, Inter-El Music Music Program in the West Hartford Public Schools, Orchestras and Chamber ensembles at the Hartt School Community Division, The Hartt Suzuki Summer Institute, numerous summer music camps, and have been accepted into college music degree programs.
I earned my Bachelor’s and Graduate degrees in Viola Performance from The Hartt School of Music where I graduated Magna Cum Laude. While at The Hartt School I completed a two-year long-term Suzuki training course with Teri Einfeldt, former chair of the Suzuki Association of America, and I hold registered Suzuki book training for books 1 through 8.
I teach out of my private studio in Windsor, The Montessori School of Greater Hartford, St. Mark’s Episcopal Chapel in Storrs, The Loomis Chaffee School, and The Westminster School. In addition I have taught in the North Street School preschool and kindergarten program, which was funded by a generous grant from the POTE Foundation (Providing Opportunity Through Education).
